What hockey stubs sell for

Real offers I have made in the last year. Condition, rarity and the event itself all move the number, so treat this as a rough guide rather than a price list.

Wayne Gretzky NHL debut - 1979

Oilers vs. Blackhawks

$3,000 - $6,000+

Historic Stanley Cup clinching games

Especially vintage and Original Six-era
championships

$200 - $1,000+

Gretzky / Lemieux rookie-era and
debut games

Important early-career tickets

$50 - $500+

1960s-70s Original Six games

Vintage regular-season tickets

$10 - $100+

1980s and later regular season

Common games and bulk collections

$1 - $10 each

Disclaimer: These are examples, not a price list. The value of a ticket can vary dramatically based on the event, date, rarity, condition, whether it is a full ticket or stub, and other factors. Even tickets from ordinary games or concerts can sometimes be valuable because of something historic that happened that day. Send us photos of your collection and we'll research it for free.

What makes a hockey stub valuable

Four things, roughly in order of how much they matter.

The game

Cup finals, Olympic games and clinching nights are worth many times a regular-season game.

The era

Original Six stubs from before the 1967 expansion are scarce, and collectors know it.

The arena

Maple Leaf Gardens, the Montreal Forum, Chicago Stadium and the Spectrum all carry extra interest.

Full ticket or stub

A ticket never torn at the door is scarcer than the stub half, sometimes by a wide margin.

Also happy to look at

WHA games, minor league and junior hockey from before 1975, Olympic tickets, playoff strips and season books.

If it got somebody into a rink, send the photo.

This is Chris. I'm a satisfied customer of Dave Buys Ticket Stubs. I've had two transactions with Dave now. I've been very impressed... by both his prompt returns and replies to my proposals and certainly the price he's given me for what I've given him. That includes a couple of batches of sports tickets, football, baseball and a few other things in there. Highly recommend him. Give him a shot at what you've got.[Read more]"

"Hi, my name is Robert Araghi. If you have some old or new ticket stubs to sell, there's a website out there called Dave Buys ticket Stubs. He buys all... of them. Concerts, memorabilia, even wrestling. All you have to do is upload some pictures of the ticket stubs. Dave will check them out. They'll send you a price. If you like the price, there are multiple ways of getting paid. I just finished a deal with him and it was quick and easy. So check out his site. You won't be disappointed.[Read more]"

Hockey questions I get asked

Are WHA stubs worth anything?

Yes. The league only lasted seven seasons and far fewer stubs survive than from NHL games of the same years.

Do minor league stubs sell?

Some do, particularly from before 1975 or from teams that have since folded. Send them along with the rest.

My stubs are from a Canadian team. Is that a problem?

Not at all. I buy from anywhere and cover shipping from Canada too.

Ready to find out what yours are worth?

Send a few photos and I’ll come back with a number. No fees, no obligation.
