What football stubs sell for

Real offers I have made in the last year. Condition, rarity and the event itself all move the number, so treat this as a rough guide rather than a price list.

1958 NFL Championship - Colts vs. Giants

"Greatest Game Ever Played"

$500 - $1,500+

1967 Ice Bowl - Packers vs. Cowboys

Original ticket or stub

$500 - $1,000+

Historic player debut / milestone games

Brady, Montana, Payton and other major stars

$100 - $2,000+

1960s-70s NFL regular-season games

Vintage ticket stubs

$10 - $75+

1980s and later regular season

Common games and bulk collections

$1 - $10 each

Disclaimer: These are examples, not a price list. The value of a ticket can vary dramatically based on the event, date, rarity, condition, whether it is a full ticket or stub, and other factors. Even tickets from ordinary games or concerts can sometimes be valuable because of something historic that happened that day. Send us photos of your collection and we'll research it for free.

What makes a football stub valuable

Four things, roughly in order of how much they matter.

The game

Championship and playoff games, famous finishes and last games at old stadiums carry most of the value.

Condition

Collectors place an even greater emphasis on condition, particularly when it comes to historically significant games.

Full ticket or stub

A ticket never torn at the gate is scarcer than the stub half, sometimes by a wide margin.

Age

Pre-merger NFL and AFL stubs from before 1970 survive rarely. Even an ordinary game is worth photographing.

Also happy to look at

Season ticket books, press box and sideline passes, programs with the ticket still attached, AFL games, and college rivalries like Army Navy or the Iron Bowl.

If it got somebody through the gate on a Saturday or a Sunday, send the photo.

"My name is Dave and I've had the pleasure of working with Dave of Dave Buys Tickets. I'm selling some of my... concert and sports related ticket stubs as well as few of the autograph footballs that I have. Dave has been very, very professional in our dealings, very courteous, very responsive, very fair in his assessments and his pricing. Communications between the two of us have been fantastic. I wholly recommend doing business with Dave in the future.[Read more]"

"My name is Gus. Just want to say how happy I am with dealing with Dave Buys Ticket Stubs. He gave me some good... prices on some items that I sold him. Sold them concert tickets, baseball, football. I also sold them black and white photographs that were used by wire service in the 70s. So you got some stuff. Give him a try. He's a fair guy. All right. Take care.[Read more]"

Football questions I get asked

Are college football stubs worth anything?

Yes, especially bowl games, rivalry games and anything from before 1970. College stubs are collected just as seriously as the pros.

I have a full season from the same seats. Should I split them up?

No. Keep them together. A complete run from one season is worth more as a set than the games would be one at a time.

How can I tell if my stub is a reprint?

Send the front and the back. Reprints usually have heavier paper, sharper printing and no wear on the edges. I will tell you honestly either way.

Ready to find out what yours are worth?

Send a few photos and I’ll come back with a number. No fees, no obligation.
